CoolerMaster Praetorian

Conclusion:

The Coolermaster Praetorian is a visually very pretty case , which is in the first line concepted for friends of a noble design. Howerer there is more potencial in this case than the first look offers , thank to the classic construction and the high userfriendlyless. The processing is outstanding good , this also mean for the very good price of EUR 99.
 

Foreword

Already since a time Coolermaster has a good image in relation toits computer cases. Quality and processing always where on a high range.
healso here they never saved on materials and every part would be seen more as massive , in comparing to some other cases.
If sombody had a chance to compare a cheap skyhawk aluminium case with a cm knows from what i talking about. The first even vibrate if a drive in their is running and working. whthose who experiend such like this , appreciate a case like cm builds.
The Praetorian case you already can find in some online shops for less than a hundred euros , and is in competition with the cheap alu cases and because of that we take a close look on it.

scope of delivery:

the Praetorian case come in a stable nice looking box together a 3 A4 colored pages manual , a plastic bad with screw ,tools ect , a cm sticker and the already installed 4 fans.

 

First impressions:

the Praetorian is a typical all the way alu case without a bunch of plastic parts. the design looks on the first view like a functional luxury case. like expected , every makes a good and clean processed impression.

naturally are here every sharp corners eliminated. it has a nice removable mainboard track and even the PSU can be removed via frame. the size comparing to other case , the pt looks more little ans small.

basically the Praetorian is design compact. The front contains no integrated plastic and the front connectors are behind a high quality processed openable plate.

The case of course is EMV secure and matches every requierments.

The processing quality is very good for a price of EUR 99,00. All side parts are removable and the side door has handscrews.

the case fan are unfortunately not up to date , larger fans would be recommend. Four already installed 80mm fans , 2 in the front and the others in the back , should created a good air ventilation.

Hoever it would be helpful to use 2 big fans instead of 4 small one , because of the lower noise. but because the case is constructet compact, bigger fans cannot be mounted , at least at the fron an back side.Depending of the system 2 fans can be unplugged.

Inside:

like said , all sharp corners are eliminated. The psu goes in a stable cage and is thank to 3 frames removable to the back side. This has a practical use because in many cases is one big mess of cables between the psu and the drives on the other side.

the Praetorian is very user and assembling friendly , because everything is reasy to reach and to install.that means especially for the drive bays , wher the manufactor used happily the classic style. Some trendy manufactors creates always invents new solutions for installing the drives without tools , but many have more disadvantages than they helps the user.
For example Harddrives boxes often can´t be mounted because they don´t fit in new tool free drive bays. Also Display for the 3,5" bay often makes problems.

Such problems you don´t have with the Praetorian. To say honestly , those users which often chang HDs own a HD Frame anyway and which are those  where such a new "quick remove" solution has advantages , in opposite to normal users which rarely change the HD. Anyway i like to old style better.
I often cursed thos new solution because when i lost thos special plastic parts , there was no way to mount a drive anymore.

Very good is that additional cards are screwed normal at the slots. little plastic locks are often incompatble to some graphic cards.

anway every user has to choose which kind he like , and he should always think before , to avoid trouble later.

functionalty:

Design and functionality can be combined very good here , and of course they depend on users taste. The front panel is an advantage for an alu case which should not be hidden under the table , to reach Audi and USB easiely.

The air circulation from the 4 fans isn´t up to date , but many useser doesn´t need them anyway. the cm pt is very userfriendly and practical.

quality:

The processing quality is from coolermaster always very high. massive aluminium without cheap plastic speaks its own language. even the frontpanel door is not plastic.

here cm build a userfriendly and stable case which makes visually a luxury impression.

Comparing:

The comparing with other cases is a little bit difficult , because they aim to an other kind of users. Everybody has to make his own choice in relation to its wishes.

Who is looking for a functional nice designed miditower , will find it exactly here.
to build of a noiseless system is here possible without any problems. But it should not be forgotten that the mounting of big fans like 120mm , is not possible.

For approx 100 euro streetprice the coolermaster is much better than comparable cheap alu cases for 10 euro less.
